The brow lift surgery will be preceded by an initial consultation during which you will receive anaesthesia, this means that you should not expect any pain. You may be given either a general or local anaesthesia during the surgery depending on the type of brow lift technique used.

After the anaesthetic starts to work and you feel numbness, your surgeon will be making a cut at the hairline and removing some tissue and muscles responsible for wrinkles and deep .

Your cuts will be repatched with stitches or staples and wrap the area with padding and bandages for protection. Brow lift surgery can take 1-3 hours.

Brow lift procedures are typically performed in the operating room. Nearly all the various eyebrow lifting techniques involve minimal sedation and local anaesthetics only. In contrast, endoscopic brow lift treatment usually requires it to be done under general anaesthesia.

The ideal candidate for eyebrow lift treatment are ones who have excess skin on their forehead and had experienced moderate brow droop which gave them a heavy and tired look to their eyes. They would probably be spending a while looking in a mirror trying to lift their lateral brow fairly often. A lot of them have their upper eyelids with so much skin and they look angry or tired all the time. As a person ages, a facelift may be recommended with a surgical brow lift if the patient has significant nasolabial folds. Unilateral eyebrow asymmetry is a common complaint in procedures with more than one third of patients.

Patients with dry eyes will need to discuss with their surgeon as excessive brow elevation can exacerbate the condition.

Someone with a higher hairline may also not be a good candidate since the surgery can only advance their hairline more. With individuals with high hairlines, an anterior approach may be recommended to raise the brows with forehead shortening.

Brow lift has risks but these are rare and typically minor when performed by experienced surgeons.

Occasionally there is heavy bleeding or infection. Temporary numbness of the skin along or just beyond the surgical incision is a more frequent complication, and potentially permanent. There may also be significant scarring or hair loss along the scar edges. In rare cases, the nerves that control eyebrow movement may be weakened and it may be difficult to raise the eyebrows or wrinkle the forehead.
