Laser Treatments for Skin Conditions at Centre for Surgery, London

Laser skin conditions treatments in summary: A specialist range of medical laser treatments for vascular, pigmentation, inflammatory, and specialist skin conditionsperformed by GMC-registered practitioners using the Fotona SP Dynamis laser platform at our CQC-regulated Baker Street clinic. Each condition has its own dedicated protocol matched to the underlying biology — there’s no single “laser treatment for everything”. Most treatments need a course of 3–6 sessions; some (venous lake, single thread veins) resolve in 1–2 sessions. From £150 per session. 0% APR finance available subject to status.

Skin cover a wide clinical spectrum — from cosmetic concerns like age spots and broken capillaries through to chronic inflammatory disease like rosacea and acne. The right laser, at the right wavelength, with the right parameters, makes the difference between a treatment that works and one that doesn’t. We use Fotona’s Nd:YAG 1064nm wavelength for vascular and inflammatory conditions, Q-switched and gentle Nd:YAG protocols for pigmentation, dual-wavelength TwinLight (Nd:YAG + Er:YAG) for acne, ClearSteps for fungal nail, and NightLase for snoring.

Diagnosis comes first. Several skin conditions can mimic each other — adult acne and rosacea, and general hyperpigmentation, athlete’s foot and other nail conditions. We confirm diagnosis clinically at consultation before any laser treatment. If exists, we’ll refer for dermatology assessment first.

Vascular conditions

Vascular conditions involve dilated or visible blood vessels in the skin — most commonly on the face. The Fotona long-pulse Nd:YAG 1064nm laser is selectively absorbed by haemoglobin, collapsing the vessel without damaging surrounding skin.

Pigmentation conditions

Pigmentation conditions involve excess melanin production — either as discrete patches (age spots, freckles) or diffuse mottled discolouration (sun damage, melasma). Different types respond to different laser approaches; melasma in needs a specialist gentler protocol.

Inflammatory skin conditions

Inflammatory skin conditions involve chronic immune activity in the skin — rosacea, acne, and acne with scarring. Laser treatment addresses the vascular component (rosacea), the bacterial and sebaceous gland component (acne), and the surface scar texture (post-acne scarring).

Specialist conditions

Two specialist applications of Fotona laser technology that don’t fit the vascular, pigmentation, or inflammatory categories — but are part of our laser skin conditions menu.

Why Centre for Surgery for laser skin conditions treatment?

How laser skin conditions treatment works

All our laser skin treatments work on the principle of selective photothermolysis — using laser wavelengths that are selectively absorbed by a specific target in the skin (haemoglobin in vessels, melanin in pigmentation, water in resurfacing applications) without significant absorption by surrounding tissue. The absorbed energy generates heat that achieves the clinical goal — collapsing a vessel, fragmenting pigment, contracting collagen — while protecting adjacent skin.

The right for the right target makes the difference. The Nd:YAG 1064nm wavelength penetrates deeply and is absorbed by haemoglobin and pigmented elements — it’s our workhorse for vascular conditions, melasma, fungal nail, and the deep component of acne . The Er:YAG 2940nm wavelength is selectively absorbed by water — making it ideal for controlled, gentle resurfacing in TwinLight acne treatment and NightLase soft-palate tightening. Q-switched short-pulse Nd:YAG the photoacoustic needed for surface pigmentation clearance.

Premium pricing reflects the technical complexity, eye-shield protocol, and specialist clinical experience required. From £300 per single eye area, £600 for both eye regions.

laser treatment for visible blue or purple veins below the lower using Fotona’s long-pulse Nd:YAG 1064nm laser with eye shield protocol. Most cases respond to 1–2 sessions. Helps differentiate vein-driven dark circles from pigmentation, hollowing, or eye-bag causes. Premium pricing reflects the technical complexity, corneal eye shield protocol, and specialist clinical experience required. From £300 per single eye area, £600 for both eyes.

Laser thread vein removal for the nose using Fotona’s long-pulse Nd:YAG 1064nm laser. Targets and clears visible spider veins (telangiectasia) on the nostrils, sides of the nose, and bridge. Most simple cases resolve in 1 session; more or rosacea-related cases need 2–3. Suitable for all skin types from £150 per session.

Laser venous lake removal at Centre for Surgery using Fotona’s long-pulse Nd:YAG 1064nm laser. Targets and clears raised blue-purple papules on the lips (most common), ears, and face. Cherry angioma removal at Centre for Surgery is provided by GMC-registered working from our CQC-regulated Baker Street clinic. Cherry angiomas (also called Campbell de Morgan spots) are very common benign red vascular skin that develop with age, made up of clusters of dilated capillaries close to the skin surface. We treat them with long-pulse Nd:YAG laser, which targets haemoglobin in the dilated vessels and seals them off without damaging surrounding skin. Most cherry angiomas are removed in a single quick outpatient session under topical anaesthetic. Every consultation clinical assessment to confirm the diagnosis, cherry angiomas from spider angiomas, pyogenic granulomas and rarely amelanotic melanoma, and exclude the small number of atypical vascular lesions warranting biopsy.

Laser pigmentation treatment using Fotona’s Q-switched and Nd:YAG laser platform to treat age spots (lentigines), sun damage, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and freckles. The laser energy is selectively absorbed by in pigmented lesions, breaking it into smaller particles that the body’s lymphatic system then clears. Most patients need 3–6 sessions for full clearance. From £150 per single lesion or small area.

Specialist treatment for melasma combining gentle non-ablative laser, topical tranexamic acid, and a skin-lightening (Obagi Nu-Derm, retinoids, kojic acid). Melasma is hormonally-driven facial pigmentation requiring a different approach to general hyperpigmentation. Usually needs 4–8 sessions plus ongoing maintenance. Ablative lasers are avoided due to PIH risk. From £500 per session.

Laser acne treatment using Fotona’s TwinLight protocolcombining Nd:YAG laser to target sebaceous glands with Er:YAG laser to resurface the skin. Treats active acne (mild to severe including cystic) and acne scars in the same session. Most patients need 3–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. From £150 per single area, £350 for half face, £500 for full face.

laser treatment using Fotona’s long-pulse Nd:YAG 1064nm laser. The wavelength is selectively absorbed by haemoglobin in dilated facial capillaries, collapsing the vessels and background facial redness, episodes, and visible thread veins. Also helps inflammatory papulopustular rosacea. Most patients need 3–5 sessions plus annual maintenance. From £500 per full-face session, £350 .

Non-invasive laser treatment for fungal nail infection (onychomycosis) using Fotona’s Nd:YAG 1064nm ClearSteps protocol. The laser heats the nail bed to a temperature lethal to dermatophyte fungi without damaging the nail or surrounding tissue. Most patients need 4 sessions spaced 1 week apart, with new healthy nail growing through over 9–12 months. From £150 per nail, £450 for all toenails.

Non-ablative laser treatment for snoring using Fotona’s NightLase protocol with the Er:YAG 2940nm laser. The laser controlled heat to the soft palate and uvula, stimulating collagen and tightening to reduce airway vibration and collapse. Most patients need 3 spaced 3 weeks apart, with effects typically lasting 12 months. Suitable for caused by soft palate vibration. From £450 per session.
