As the year 2024 draws to a close, we have reflected on the top of the year, from sensitivity soothers to glow enhancers.
This research has been supported by search data and social media trends to look ahead to next year, debuting the forecast for the top trending products and trends of 2025.
Using internal data, we have also revealed the most popular beauty procedures of the last year and envisioned which will be most favoured in the new year. The experts at Harley Street Skin Clinic have also commented on why skincare changes every year and predicted the top skincare products for 2025.
The most popular skincare products of 2024

1. Turmeric soap
Skincare score: 9.80/10

helps neutralise free radicals, protect the skin from environmental damage, reduce signs of ageing, and maintain a youthful complexion. It is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which help soothe irritated skin, reduce redness, and provide relief for conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis.
In addition, many studies have shown that turmeric has major benefits for the body and brain, including aiding arthritis, kidney health, muscle soreness, anxiety and degenerative eye conditions.
Over the last year, there have been over 2.1 million searches for turmeric soap, 122,000 Instagram posts, and 46,300 TikTok mentions. Turmeric has been used in traditional medicine and cosmetics for centuries and is likely to remain a firm favourite in the modern skincare market.

has become a cult beauty product over the years. It claims to pump the lips full of hydration and leave them intensely soft, smooth, and healthy-looking. Laneige recommends applying a generous amount of product at night so that you wake up with soft, nourished lips. The formula includes antioxidants to help remove dead skin, and hydrating ingredients like vitamin C and coconut oil.
This viral product has earned popularity from famous fans, including Brooke Shields, Kaia Gerber, Nina Dobrev and Sydney Sweeney. Laneige even appointed Sweeney as its first-ever global brand ambassador in early 2024.

went viral on TikTok and Instagram, with the hashtag #diorlipoil collecting over 34,300 TikTok posts. With celebrity endorsements from Bella Hadid and TikTok star Alix Earle praising the product, many mass brands have released their own takes on the popular lip oil.
The non-sticky formula contains cherry oil, which is rich in vitamin A and helps hydrate the lips, creating a glossy finish. The Dior Lip Oil also reacts with the lips’ moisture levels to create a custom colour that works for a variety of skin tones.
Lip oils saw a huge demand in 2024, with many people opting for a more natural look than typical lip gloss, which can often feel heavy and sticky on the lips. Unlike traditional lip gloss, lip oils primarily concentrate on providing hydration and essential nutrients to keep the lips soft and supple.

The was the most popular skincare trend of 2024, receiving a score of 9.47 out of 10. This medical-grade treatment cleanses, exfoliates, and hydrates the skin. It uses multiple steps, including cleansing, which is a lymphatic drainage technique that increases circulation and removes toxins. Exfoliation, which gently removes dead skin cells and impurities; and extraction, which removes debris from clogged pores. The skin will be given ultimate hydration, which enhances the skin’s water content and antioxidants, maximises the skin’s natural glow and reduces redness.
The Hydrafacial is the go-to treatment for major celebrities such as Kate Winslet, Gwenyth Paltrow, and Eva Mendes. It is popular due to its minimal downtime, versatility, and low risk of side effects. According to Allure, a Hydrafacial is performed every 15 seconds. With over 4 million mentioned posts, 5.8 million searches and 250,400 TikTok-tagged posts, the Hydrafacial is likely to remain the reigning skincare treatment for many.
Glass skin is a Korean beauty trend that refers to skin that is clear, smooth, radiant, and free of blemishes. The goal is to achieve a complexion that is as smooth as glass and has a healthy, luminous shine. Glass skin can be achieved by using a cleansing oil, exfoliating to remove dead skin cells, using a hydrating serum or a serum-oil-moisturiser combo to boost moisture levels. The glass skin look can also be achieved using makeup, by using a primer for a smooth canvas, lightly layering a glowy foundation and applying highlighter to the cheekbones and nose.
The glass skin trend became a global phenomenon after gaining popularity on social media. On Instagram, the trend accumulated 1.2 million Instagram posts and 469,200 TikTok mentions. There were also 1.1 million searches for “glass skin” in the last twelve months.
The skin barrier protects the body from free radicals, and harsh environments are often the cause of damage. You can protect your skin barrier using oils, ceramides, and moisturisers. These products can help support the skin barrier and treat skin conditions like dryness, dehydration, and eczema. Some exfoliate, some plump, and others moisturise. According to In-Cosmetics Connect, the global skin barrier care products market has a projected value of £1.2 billion in 2024.
In recent years, strengthening the skin barrier has become a critical trend in skincare. If the skin barrier is broken down, it could result in skin conditions that need to be treated. That is why 2024 has become the year of “barrier-loving skincare.”

Using Harley Street Skin Clinic’s internal data, we have revealed the most popular procedures in 2024:
is the world’s most used anti-ageing injectable. It’s used to relax facial muscles, which can smooth lines and wrinkles. There were 177 bookings for Botox in one area of the body, 267 in two areas, 124 in three areas, and 17 for four areas.
In 2022, the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons reported a 124% increase in demand for Botox treatments compared to the previous year. Many millennials are choosing the treatment as a non-invasive way to maintain their natural looks and slow down the ageing process. Botox can target areas like the forehead, crow’s feet, and glabellar lines.
The , commonly referred to as the Cortisone Injection,’ is a steroid treatment that effectively targets blemishes. This injection rapidly reduces redness and swelling at the blemish site, typically delivering noticeable results within two days.
The Spot Injection is used to manage severe acne that regularly causes cysts and nodules. These shots send a strong anti-inflammatory into the pimple to decrease its size and help it heal rapidly. The treatment made up almost 7% of all bookings in 2024, at 616 in total.
is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to tighten and contour the skin on the face and neck. Over 370 bookings for this procedure were made in 2024, about 4% of all bookings.
The procedure involves inserting a small cannula under the skin to deliver RF energy, which stimulates collagen production and targets fat. It can help reduce the appearance of sagging skin, lift and define the jowls, reduce the appearance of a double chin, and smooth wrinkles. FaceTite is often referred to as the “most natural facelift” because it doesn’t involve injecting inorganic substances into the skin.
Sophie Cooper, Managing Director of , has shared her skincare predictions for 2025:
AI’s role is quickly growing in the beauty space and is being used for product development, skin analysis, and consultations. A number of new devices, including advanced AI tools, are also being developed that will tailor skincare routines to individual needs, providing hyper-personalised solutions for every skin type and concern.
As consumers become more aware of their environmental impact, the demand for sustainable skincare products and packaging has increased. Skincare brands will embrace sustainable practices, with biodegradable packaging, refillable options, and ethically sourced ingredients leading the way. Environmental legislation has also encouraged brands to design greener packaging.
The “skinmalism” trend is a movement towards simplified skincare routines that use fewer products and focus on clean ingredients. Multitasking products will dominate, offering hydration, sun protection, and anti-ageing benefits in a single step — perfect for the busy modern consumer.
The rise in consumer interest in maintaining a healthy skin barrier has led to a surge in cosmetic ingredient launches. The focus will shift to nurturing and protecting the skin barrier with ingredients like ceramides, niacinamide, and probiotics to enhance resilience and reduce sensitivity.
At-home skincare devices are seeing a rise in popularity. The market for these devices has grown rapidly since 2020 and is expected to reach £70.5 billion by 2030. This is because of a rise in social media appeal, cost, and ease of use. The pandemic also led to a growing interest in DIY solutions. From LED masks to microneedling devices, consumers will invest in advanced beauty tech for professional results at home.
In today’s fast-paced world, prioritising self-care and holistic wellness has become essential. Customers are also becoming aware of the potential harmful effects of synthetics in skincare products and are turning to natural alternatives. The integration of beauty and wellness will grow, with products addressing both skin health and mental well-being using adaptogens and stress-reducing actives.
Skincare brands are responding to the growing demand for inclusivity by offering a wider range of options. Gender-neutral skincare will gain momentum, promoting inclusivity and moving away from overly segmented products.
Smaller-scale influencers with authentic, relatable content will become key players in shaping consumer decisions. These influencers have high engagement rates, especially in the skincare industry, and are a cost-effective option for brands.
“2025 will redefine how we care for our skin, blending cutting-edge science with simplicity and sustainability. Imagine AI-powered tools that analyse your unique skin needs and tailor solutions with pinpoint accuracy, ensuring every product in your routine works harmoniously.
Consumers will increasingly demand eco-conscious options — biodegradable packaging, ethically sourced ingredients, and clean formulations that protect both skin and the planet.
Multitasking products will take centre stage, simplifying routines with powerful formulas that hydrate, protect, and rejuvenate all in one step.
This is also the year where beauty meets wellness. Ingredients that calm inflammation resist environmental stressors, and support mental well-being — like adaptogens and probiotics — will transform how we think about skincare. At-home beauty tech will become more advanced, offering salon-level results with convenience and cost-effectiveness.
Above all, skincare in 2025 will go beyond surface-level aesthetics, focusing on overall skin health, barrier repair, and inclusivity. It’s about products that understand you and adapt to your life, bringing precision, care, and mindfulness into every drop”
